Annandale and Eskdale Leadership Academy

The leadership Academy is a programme which inspires lifelong learning in sport and physical activity.

As part of Active Schools and Community Sport programme, this Leadership Academy for young people is delivered in the Annandale and Eskdale area and is open to young people aged S4-S6 in the 2019-20 academic year.

Course background

The range of awards and qualifications delivered over the three-day course equips young people with the skills and motivation to create and deliver sporting activities in their local school and community.

Leadership academy students can then be supported to deliver community activities on a voluntary basis as part of the qualification, enhancing the opportunity for others to engage with sport and physical activity in their local area.

Young people will be encouraged to work towards Saltire Awards which is a Scottish Governments National Youth Volunteer Awards scheme. They celebrate, recognise and reward the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland, aged between 12 and 25. Young people gain nationally recognised certificates, signed by Scottish Government Ministers, for the different amounts of volunteering they do.

Cost

The cost of the course is £10 per candidate and can be paid after the applicant has received confirmation of their success in receiving a place
