Mariners Notice - Palnackie Harbour Temporary Closure - Palnackie Harbour Temporary Closure - Construction Works Extended until 10 May 2024

Scottish Water and construction partner George Leslie will shortly commence harbour wall stabilisation works in Palnackie Harbour.

All harbour users are therefore requested to comply with any signage in place within the harbour area, to ensure the safe execution of all remediation works.

Under an emergency works licence issued by Marine Directorate, a rock bund will be placed in the channel adjacent to the south harbour wall. This will comprise a layered bed of compacted rock and gabion stone, which will stabilise the silt substrate and reinforce the failing harbour wall to allow the safe excavation of the failing embankment.

Silt control measures, geotextile membrane and a phased works approach will be utilised to minimise soil displacement during these activities. Clear quarried stone will then be used to backfill the excavated embankment and bring to completion the temporary emergency bund.

An extended working window is anticipated for the aforementioned activities, subject to suitable tidal conditions, works access and no further deterioration of the existing ground conditions prior to the start of works.
