Property Naming
A property can be allocated a name if it is unique to the area.
If the property has already been allocated a number then it must remain part of the official address. You must tell us if there are changes to a property name that is part of the official address.
New and altered addresses are also passed to the Council Assessors department and the Royal Mail.
Costs
The cost for a single new address application for property naming is £110. This is for administration costs including updating the Royal Mail and Scottish Assessors and must be received before the application is processed.
If a property is being subdivided then an application must be made and properties must be numbered with a letter suffix. For example, 16 would become 16A and 16B.
