Dumfriesshire Educational Trust has several scholarships, bursaries and grant schemes to benefit residents living in the former county of Dumfriesshire who are either attending or looking to attend educational activities.
Information from previous round;
Supplementary Bursaries for Students
Supplementary Bursaries are available to young people who have been mainly educated in Dumfriesshire and are looking to attend a further or higher education (college or university) institution.
Award criteria
Awards may only be granted to individuals who:
- Normally resident in Dumfriesshire.
- Educated in Dumfriesshire for a minimum of 5 years.
- Enrolled in further of higher education (college or university).
- Secured a Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) household income assessed bursary for the 2024/25 academic year.

Payment
Applications will be considered at a meeting of the Trust, usually at its September meeting. For successful applications, payment will be made directly to the applicant's personal bank account, details of which must be included in the application form.
Edinburgh Dumfriesshire Scholarship
Edinburgh Dumfriesshire Society Bursaries are available to secondary school pupils who have been mainly educated in Dumfriesshire and are looking to attend higher education at the University of Edinburgh or another further or higher education institution.
Awards may only be granted to individuals who:
- Normally resident in Dumfriesshire.
- Educated in Dumfriesshire for a minimum of 5 years.
- Looking to attend the University of Edinburgh, or another further or higher education institution.
Award criteria
- Awards are based on S5 examination results together with a report from the Head Teacher of the school.
- The award currently stands at £500 per annum for up to four years.
- A maximum of eight awards are funded at any one time.
- Preference is given to students entering the University of Edinburgh.
