Consultation on a Cultural Strategy for Dumfries and Galloway
Dumfries and Galloway Council and its partners, including DG Unlimited, are creating a Cultural Strategy for our region. We want the strategy to help unlock the potential of culture - by which we mean arts and heritage of all types - to make a positive difference to people's lives in Dumfries and Galloway.
It will Champion, and be an advocacy tool for the whole cultural sector.
We plan to publish the strategy by Spring 2020.
Why we are consulting
We want to find out what's important to you, what you think works well, and hear your ideas on how to make our cultural sector even better.
We also want your help to finesse the strategy's draft vision and key themes which we've developed in discussion with representatives from the region's cultural sector and Dumfries and Galloway's Community Learning and Development Partnership.
Have your say
From now until 8 September 2019 there are a number of ways for you to take part in the consultation process, you can contribute to them all or the one that appeals to you the most:
- Facebook - general public survey
- Survey Monkey Questionnaire - for people working in the region's cultural sector or if you prefer a printed copy of the survey is available from all our Libraries
- Focus Group Roadshow - come and speak to us at one of the cultural sector focus group sessions taking place across the region. Places are limited so book early
- Run your own session - Download a resource pack to help you run a session with your group or organisation
Remember the consultation phase ends on 8 September 2019 so don't miss your chance to have your say.
What we'll do with the results
We will use your feedback to create a Cultural Strategy for Dumfries and Galloway, which we will share with you before submitting to Dumfries and Galloway Council for approval. Before then, most likely around October 2019, we will share with you a report that summarises what you told us during the engagement phase.
