Community Conversations

Community Conversations are an opportunity to engage directly with the Council, on issues that are important to you.

Previous Conversations

They are usually held on a Ward basis, and can be in person or online. The format is normally a short presentation on the topic followed by questions and discussion. Each conversation normally lasts about an hour. Feedback is shared with attendees & on our website.

Community Conversation - Dumfries and Galloway's Visitor Management Strategy 2022

  • A series of 4 sessions were held in June 2022 to share information on our plans to welcome visitors to Dumfries and Galloway, and to hear the views and priorities of local communities and stakeholders, aiming to work together to maximise the opportunities of the tourist season and minimise any problems. 

Council Budget and Recovery Plan

  • In late 2021, information on the Council's Budget and Recovery Plan was presented and views were collected on the priorities and opinions of those in attendance. Feedback was shared with Elected Members ahead of setting the Council's next budget.

Visitor Return

  • An engagement event was held on the 20th April 2021 to inform community organisations about partners plans to welcome visitors back to Dumfries and Galloway. We asked "What other issues may need to be considered?"

Streetscene

  • Community Conversations took place throughout 2019 to engage with the public on the maintenance and management of public spaces in Dumfries and Galloway. The 'You Said We Did document

Waste & Recycling

  • 15 Community Conversations were held between 29th October 2019 and 29th November 2019, with a total of 813 attendees. Conversations were attended by Officers from the Waste Service and supported by Ward Officers.
