Consultation on the Children and Young People's Music Strategy
The Education and Learning Committee has refocused the Dumfries and Galloway Council Children and Young People's Music Strategy consultation. This is being done in order to set the vision and ambition for the region to improve participation and achievement for our young people.
It is noted that music opportunities exist beyond schools and services offered by education, and this strategy is intended to include all music opportunities and provision. In a renewed effort, we are seeking the current views of key stakeholders within the region to inform this strategy.
Why we are consulting
We want to find out what's important to you, what you think works well, and hear your ideas on how to make our music sector even better.
We also want your help to develop the strategy's draft vision and key themes which we are developing in discussion with representatives from the region's music sector and various stakeholders. We now wish to allow everyone to share their views.
Have your say
A number of key stakeholders will be consulted during the course of the strategy development including but not limited to:
- Pupils
- Young people
- Locally based community music organisations
- Parent Councils
- D&G Youth Council
- Equality groups
- Local Parent Organisations
- Teachers
- Churches and Faith Groups
- Music Technicians
From now until 12noon on 8 October 2021 we will be consulting in a number of ways including the following:
- Microsoft Forms Questionnaire (if you need internet access to fill in this questionnaire please book an appointment at one of our Customer Service Centres to use a public pc).
- Pupils Questionnaire
- Focus Groups (possibly virtual, depending on Covid restrictions)
Remember the consultation phase ends on 8 October 2021 so don't miss your chance to have your say.
What we'll do with the results
We will use your feedback to create a Dumfries and Galloway Children and Young People's Music Strategy, which we will be presenting to Education and Learning Committee. Before then, we will share with you a report that summarises what you told us during the engagement phase.
