Re-use

There are many benefits to buying pre-loved items as well as donating items for re-use. You can:

Donating Items

Donating to charities is a great way to pass on your unwanted items and by doing so you're helping them raise valuable funds for a cause you care about. If you have large items at home that you no longer need and are still in good condition, you can have them collected by the Re-use Line in Scotland. • Save money - buying second hand is often cheaper than buying new and you can find some unique one-off items.
  • Help your local community - money raised often goes to a good cause.
  • Save energy - a lot of energy goes into the production of new items so by re-using unwanted items first we can help reduce the need to produce new ones.
  • Reduce waste to landfill - every year approximately 5,000 tonnes of sofas & 9,700 tonnes of washing machines are thrown away.

Buying Items

There are a number of shops that sell re-used goods across Dumfries and Galloway. To find your nearest one visit Zero Waste Scotland's website https://www.zerowastescotland.org.uk/revolve
