Closure of Council operated facilities
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, and following Public Health advice in regard to reducing social contact, we will be closing a range of Council operated facilities until further notice.
The following Council operated facilities are now closed until further notice:
- Leisure Facilities and Swimming Pools
- Museums, Galleries and Cinemas
- Libraries (the community outreach service will continue to operate)
- Public Conveniences
- Public Halls
- Caravan Parks
- All HWRC's (Household Waste Recycling Centres)
All relevant Direct Debit membership fees in relation to any of the above activities will be automatically frozen for the duration of this closure (we will do this for you automatically, you do not need to do anything).
We recognise the importance of protecting our most vulnerable people and we will work to ensure we maintain our Welfare, Housing, Homelessness and Benefits Advice Services. This will include working with third sector partners to ensure we maintain public access to food parcels. The Registration Service (Births, Deaths and Marriages) will continue to operate in each area by appointment as normal by telephoning the Council's Contact Centre 030 33 33 3000.
The importance of maintaining our Council's household waste collection service is fully recognised and we are making arrangements to ensure we can maintain business as usual as far as possible.
These are unprecedented and challenging times and we are working across Dumfries and Galloway to manage and respond to the situation as it develops, following official advice.
The safety and wellbeing of our customers, communities and staff is paramount. Therefore all of these arrangements will be closely monitored and subject to ongoing review as we respond to the available advice from Public Health, Scottish Government and other partners. Any changes will be advised accordingly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
