The Queen's Honours
The honours system recognises individuals for extraordinary achievements and commitment to public life. You can nominate someone for an honour.
Honours are awarded to individuals who are:
- making a difference to their community or field of work
- providing long-term voluntary service
- providing innovation and entrepreneurship
- improving life for people less able to help themselves
- displaying moral courage
There is a limit on the number of honours that are awarded each year so only those people who've given exceptional service are likely to succeed.
Submit a nomination
Receipt of your nomination will be acknowledged within 28 days. It is not possible to provide progress reports during the review period which can take up to 18 months.
Assistance from the Lord Lieutenant
Your local Lord Lieutenant (the Queen's representative in your area) can provide further information and support during the nomination process. They can also help with letters of support which are needed when nominating someone.
