Road Safety Plan 2011-14

Prior to the Partnership being established the responsibility for addressing road safety has been a statutory function of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Police Scotland and the Scottish Government/Transport Scotland, as appropriate. The Chief Constable is the named individual with full responsibility for Dumfries and Galloway.

Clearly many agencies have a role to play in addressing road safety in Dumfries and Galloway and this is reflected in the establishment of the new Dumfries and Galloway Road Safety Partnership.

The Road Safety Plan for 2011 – 2014 initially focuses on three main themes –

  • Rural roads
  • Trunk roads
  • Young drivers
