Outdoor Activities

Provision of outdoor activity centres for use by schools or other groups.

We aim to promote safe and enjoyable participation in outdoor activities as on extension of the curriculum and to foster an appreciation of and respect for the natural environment.

Activities on offer include:

  • Hillwalking (including forest and coastal walks)
  • Kayaking
  • Open canoeing
  • Rock-climbing
  • Sailing
  • Windsurfing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Orienteering
  • Skiing
  • Fieldwork

Most activities can be undertaken whilst in residence at one of the Outdoor Centres, or as daily activities based in an appropriate location near you.

Community Groups

We can provide activity sessions that help you attain your aims for your group as part of a residential or on a non - residential basis.

School Groups

There are many advantages to a residential stay as part of the personal and social development of pupils. They may flourish in another setting, develop better relations with their peers and teacher, and learn about self-support.

There are also particular outcomes in sections of the 5-14 curriculum which would be easier achieved through an outdoor activity, e.g. making and using maps in Environmental Studies can be covered in an orienteering session.

A study topic could be initiated or enhanced through the activities as long as we are informed of the topic in advance, and PE Standard Grade and Higher Still courses can follow an outdoor activity as part of the course.

Coach Education

We can provide training and give you a remit on the Council's Accredited Leader scheme and as an NGB qualification.
