Social Work Manager Annandale & Eskdale
Manages all Children and Families services within the locality and builds, sustains partnership networks.

Social Work Nithsdale
To lead on the development, maintenance and continuing improvement of policies, procedures and protocols in protecting children across all settings within Dumfries and Galloway. To promote and maintain competencies in social work staff in recognising and responding to children in need. To drive the strategic development of child protection services in Dumfries and Galloway. Alison is also responsible for managing staff.
Manages all the Long-term Children and Families social work cases in Nithsdale. This will include children who are on the child protection register as well as children who will be accommodated i.e. with foster carers, kinship carers as well as residential placements throughout Scotland. In addition, he is responsible for doing reports for the children's panel and the sheriff courts. He also sits on the board on the Dumfries and Galloway Befrienders, the Early Years Development Group and the Licensing Board. Daniel is also my representative on the ADSW Children and Families Standing Committee.
Fostering and Adoption
Manages the Fostering and Adoption and Kinship teams. This is a Council wide team with staff based in Dumfries, Newton Stewart and Stranraer. The team does recruiting for those who wish to become foster parents, adoptive parents or kinship carers. In recruiting they would have to assess the capabilities of these individuals to look after children, and, once they have done this, each carer needs to have an allocated social worker for ongoing support. At present we have upwards of 100 children in foster care placements and over 200 in kinship care placements.
Manages the physical disability service, the occupational therapy services throughout the east of the Region, sensory support for all of the Council, learning disability within Nithsdale and Mental Health services throughout the east of the Region. The manager sits on the Putting it First Board which promotes joint working between Social Work Services and National Health (NHS).
Chairing and Reviewing Team throughout the Council with staff based in Annan, Dumfries, Stewartry and Stranraer. This team is responsible for chairing all child protection cases and adult support and protection cases, and all children who are looked after and accommodated. Their team is to help consistency of practice in child care and adult care throughout the Council.
Social work services delivered from Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI). Also responsible for delivering social work services to the over 65s within Nithsdale. He has also responsibility for developing and promoting adult care duty services within Nithsdale. Within Nithsdale Rona Carson and himself are responsible for delivering adult support and protection services to vulnerable adults. The manager sits on the Putting it First Board which promotes joint working between Social Work Adult Care Services and National Health (NHS).
All duty child care referrals within Nithsdale and Upper Nithsdale. This will include providing reports for the Children's Panel, Sheriff Courts, as well as doing child protection investigations alongside colleagues from the police. The manager also responsible for delivery all adult care services in Upper Nithsdale
Leads on the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of policies, procedures, protocols within domestic abuse across all settings within D&G. Responsible for driving the strategic development of domestic abuse within the Council. Works alongside partner agencies responsible for providing services to protect individuals who would be vulnerable within a domestic abuse setting. The officer also manages staff within this area.
Social Work Stewartry
Managing adult care social work services in the Stewartry. Services to older people, services to people with a disability (Learning or physical) services to people with mental health issues, adult support and protection. Joint work with NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
Managing child care social work services in the Stewartry. Services to children and families, child protection, looked after children.
Managing children's residential units across the local authority area. Council interface with private residential child care agencies.
Managing the homelessness service across the local authority area. Provision of temporary accommodation, enabling people to access permanent accommodation.
Activity and Resource Centres
Managing the activity and resource centres and other provision for people with a learning disability across the council area. Work with people with a learning disability to enhance employment and training opportunities. Provision of accommodation at Dunmuir Park, management of the Supported Employment Service-enabling people with Learning Disability into employment or work experience.
Managing a council area wide service working with young people up to 18 who offend. Multi-disciplinary team involving police, schools and third sector members.
Managing a council wide team of workers who work with care leavers up to age 25. Corporate parenting champion, work with college and employers to enable care leavers to access training or employment.
Tactical and operational responsibility for Community Learning Disability Social Work in Wigtownshire and Stewartry. Team Manager for Mental health Officer services across the Council.

Adult Support and Protection
Lead officer for Adult Support and Protection. Coordinates Adult Protection Committee and is a member of Adult Protection Committee sub groups. Lead officer for development of Social Work Mental health/ Mental Health Officer services.
Strategic and operational lead for Criminal Justice Social Work services. Member of Community Justice Authority area plan implementation group and victim's group. Criminal Justice Social Work link with HM Prison Dumfries. Oversight of service level agreements with Scottish Prison Service and Scottish Police Service Authority.
Criminal Justice Nithsdale and Annandale & Eskdale
Tactical and operational responsibility for Criminal Justice Social Work services in Nithsdale and Annandale Eskdale and HM prison Dumfries and Community Service/ Unpaid Work across the Council. Chairs Multi Agency Public protection Conferences.
Children and Families
Tactical and operational responsibility for Children and families Social Work in Wigtownshire. Member of tactical working groups and Wigtownshire ARG.
Tactical and operational responsibility for Adult Care Social Work in Wigtownshire. Chairs Adult support and Protection Conferences. Operational lead for Self Directed Support in Wigtownshire. Member of 'Putting You First' Social Work group.

Leads and manages the Frontline Improvement and Quality Team, facilitates and leads policy development and improvement work across Social Work Services. Leads on business systems for Social Work. Manages lead officers within the Frontline Improvement and Quality Team across: Adult Services, Children's Services, Personalisation, Adult Support and Protection and Mental Health social work.

Leads on strategic planning for Mental Health across health and social care, facilitating planning work across the partnership. Leads and manages commissioning processes in relation to external contracts for service provision.
