The Carbon Management Plan (CMP) details the main sources of the Council's emissions and the projects planned to reduce emissions.

Carbon management is now very much a part of the sustainable development within the Council and this has been underpinned by joining and successfully completing the Carbon Trust's Local Authority Carbon Management Programme.

As part of this programme, which finished in March 2009, the Council has produced a  Carbon Management Plan [1Mb].

The CMP is designed to outline the baseline carbon footprint of the Council in 2007/2008 and presents a range of projects that the Council plans to implement and could implement in future years. You can also find out more about some recently implemented projects.

This Council based Carbon Management Plan is only the first step towards making the region carbon neutral.
