In some primary schools a Morning Break milk service is provided. The milk costs 17p for 200ml. The school catering staff will be pleased to give you more information.
The School Meal Service provides school meals to pupils within the Dumfries & Galloway region. This provision includes special dietary requirements that have been medically prescribed or are for ethical religious or cultural reasons.
To allow the service to cater for special dietary requirements, Dumfries & Galloway Council's Catering Section will work in partnership, sharing joint responsibility for this procedure between pupil, parent/carer and the school, to provide a nutritionally balanced meal that meets the dietary requirements of the pupil. In the first instance please contact the school direct for a Special Diet Registration form.
All primary schools have introduced an advance pre-order system for lunch. Pre-ordering works well as the pupils get the lunch of their choice from the Take 4 All menu.
This initiative will no longer be available from the school meals service as of 1 April 2011 as the budget is not available to allow this to continue. Fruit is available as part of the menu choice on a daily basis.
The award of Free School Meals is to support families who live and attend a school in Dumfries and Galloway and in receipt of qualifying benefits. All Primary 1 pupils currently receive free school meals. Find out more.
