Environmental Education Sessions

Dumfries and Galloway Council's Ranger Service provides a wide range of free education sessions for all ages.

Activities can be curriculum linked to several subjects, as part of a wider school or group project or purely a fun way of exploring and learning about wildlife and the countryside.

We can visit your school or centre to run activities in the school grounds or a local park. Alternatively you can come out and meet us in the countryside. We have sites throughout Dumfries and Galloway so wherever you are we will have an activity for you.

All of the sessions are adapted to suit the age of the group so sessions with younger groups will include more games and older groups will be more in depth.

We can run sessions on mini beasts, pond dipping, seashore, birds & nests, Outdoor Access code, ospreys, wild goose chase, water safety, woodland games, plants and wildlife and many more. We can also help you out with work towards Eco-Schools. If there's something you want that isn't listed, just give us a call.

Forest Schools

The Ranger Service is involved in setting up forest classrooms in schools across Dumfries and Galloway. These allow schools to take groups out to a woodland near to the school on a regular basis. If you are interested in us setting up a forest classroom for your school please contact us.
