    Improvements at Burns Statue will ensure the area is more pedestrian friendly while still retaining its function as an important transport hub. Works will include new granite surfacing, changes to the carriage way layout to increase pedestrian only space, and new seating and landscaping.

    The Dock Park has undergone massive regeneration to upgrade the facilities. The riverside park has a rich and varied history which has been made accessible to park users through interpretation boards and the conservation of historic features.

    Our Council and partners have been looking at ways to combat flooding in Dumfries. In September 2012, our Council ran a public consultation event to examine the potential flood solutions for the Whitesands and develop a vision for the future use of the area and the regeneration of the town as a whole. Our Council is now working toward a vision as a result of this consultation.
