Collecting the Past

This exhibition explores the important role that Wigtownshire played in the story of Scottish archaeology. The exhibition looks at local antiquarians and their collections.

Toy Stories! 100 Years of Childhood Toys and Games
6 February – 13 March 2010

Discover over 300 childhood toys - from Muffin the Mule and Meccano to Buzz Lightyear and Tamagotchi. Discover toy crazes, Toys of the Year from the 60s and 70s and a collection of ancient videogames.

Guiding Memories
20 February – 1 May 2010

Celebrating 100 years of the Guiding movement, the Wigtownshire Guides and their achievements.

Matisse – Drawing with Scissors
20 March – 17 April 2010

A Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition

The French painter Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was one of the 20^th century's most influential artists. This exhibition features 35 original lithographic prints of his famous cut-outs.

Spring Fling taster exhibition

See the work of some of this year's Spring Fling participants. Spring Fling, Scotland's premier open studios art event, will be held across Dumfries and Galloway on the weekend of 29-31 May 2010 (www.spring-fling.co.uk).

West Fest 2010

This year West Fest presents an exhibition of contemporary Scottish Art which hopefully will startle and surprise.

Wigtownshire Wonders
26 June – 25 September 2010

A collection of curiosities including witch stones, cat-boiling troughs, a Victorian beef can that spent two years trapped in the Arctic and a spooky magic sock. Also, peek at some of Wigtownshire's stranger nooks and crannies.

Order of St John
30 September – 9 October 2010

An annual exhibition of paintings, ceramics and sculptures by Galloway artists. Held to raise funds for local palliative care, all the works are for sale.

Mapping Galloway
16 October – 4 December 2010

A fascinating collection of maps from the 17^th century to the modern day which chart Galloway's changing landscape.

Royal Photographic Society (Scottish Branch)
20 November – 11 December 2010

The Society's annual traveling exhibition and a chance to see some of the best in contemporary photography.

Pictures at an Exhibition
