To provide services we need to keep records about our customers. However we treat your personal information in the strictest confidence. Information held, will be used for the administration of library services only e.g. notifications, statistics, monitoring and development of library services. We record: your name and address, telephone number(s) and e-mail address, your date of birth, whether you are housebound, a record of your transactions with the library, any money you have paid or owe Dumfries and Galloway Library, Information and Archives for borrowing, requesting or purchasing items and any fines paid or outstanding. You can check the basic information held about you on our Library management system by checking your borrower account on the online library catalogue. You will need to know your borrower account number and PIN. If you don't already know your PIN, please contact your local library. If any details are wrong please contact any library. Some changes can be made online through your borrower account i.e. e-mail address, mobile telephone number. It will be made clear when data is being collected, for example on client questionnaires and feedback forms, the purpose for which the data is collected. Your personal information will be kept no longer than is necessary for the purpose stated. Your information will not be shared with anyone else outwith the Council without your permission. Subject to certain statutory restrictions, the Act allows you to find out what information the Council holds about you. This is called the 'Right of Subject Access'. You can see this information by making a 'Subject Access Request'. The Council (generally) exercises its right to charge £10 for each Subject Access Request.
