It is for the individual Community Councils to assure themselves over the level of cover that they have. Membership of the Association gives Community Councils access to an advisory service, and should any Community Council have questions in respect of their policy cover, they should contact the Secretary of The Association of Scottish Community Councils.
The advice to Community Councils is that if they have any dubiety as to the appropriateness of insurance cover, then it is within the authority of a Community Council to withdraw from the national scheme and make arrangements for their own insurance. A small number of Community Councils have continued to make separate arrangements for their insurance.
