Lochside Primary School is situated in the centre of Lochside in North West Dumfries. The school was opened in 1962 to meet the needs of families in the new community. Lochside Primary has recently undergone major refurbishment and all class bases are well furnished and provide stimulating areas for learning.

The school campus is large, bright and airy and has extensive play facilities comprising two tarred play areas, a large grassed area and a wooden play park.

A Children's Centre is also attached to the school, which gives a location for a variety of agencies to provide a range of services for children and their families.

The whole school is committed to providing an inclusive education for all pupils and a Learning Centre provides a base for young people who require integration with specialist input.  While a 60 place Nursery provides an excellent pre-school education.
