Castle Kennedy Primary School serves the rural area two miles to the east of Stranraer, including the village of Castle Kennedy and the Castle Kennedy Estate.

The school was built in 1963 and is situated in extensive playing fields, incorporating a football pitch, an athletics area, an adventure playground and a hard-surface area.

The school has also developed an Eco Garden where the pupils can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.  Pupils are now working to further develop the school grounds with the inclusion of a wildlife garden. They plan to plant native species of trees, shrubs and flowers in order to provide year round food and shelter for insects, animals and birds. The school has achieved the Silver Eco Schools Award and is working towards the Green Flag Award.
