There are 4 Area Local Plans in Dumfries and Galloway, one for each of the former District Council areas. They were all adopted in 2006 and set out policies for development and conservation applying to particular localities.

The Local Plans (along with the Structure Plan) are due to be replaced by a single  but will continue to be valid until the new Plan is adopted. The  Development Plan Scheme [5Mb] sets out the proposed timetable for the adoption of the new Plan.
