Housing Land Audits

The Council has to make sure that there is land available across the region for developers to build houses. This is so that the demand for housing in the region can be met for at least the next 5 years. It is a requirement of Scottish Planning Policy.

The Council carries out audits to see where land is available. The region is divided into 'Housing Market Areas' - Annan, Dumfries, Eskdale, Mid Galloway, Stewartry and Stranraer.

The Housing Land Audits have been agreed following consultations with Homes for Scotland, Scottish Government Housing Investment Division, Scottish Water and Transport Scotland. Volume house builders, both private and registered social landlords, and planning agents operating within Dumfries & Galloway have also been consulted.

NOTE: Available capacity at water treatment works (WTW) and waste water treatment works (WWTW) can be found using Scottish Water's online Asset Capacity Search tool - Asset Capacity Search

Note that the base date for these audits is 30th June 2012. Any changes to sites which have happened since then will not be shown here.
