Depute Director, Education Services: Rachel Craig
To support the Director, Education Services in the strategic management of the Service to ensure that the Council delivers its priorities, meets its statutory obligations and secures continuous improvement. Specific responsibilities are detailed in the scheme of delegation.

Strategic Support (West)
To support the Director, Education Services in the management of the Service.
Current QIM duties and activities which include: Leading a team of central officers in Supporting Learners, Additional Support Needs Pupils and Inclusion; Ensuring Education Services meets its statutory responsibility with regard to supporting all children with additional support needs and monitor related processes; and, Leading service improvement and stakeholder engagement for Education in two Districts (Wigtownshire and Stewartry), including engagement with Area Committees and Parent Councils.

Straetgic Support (East)
To support the Director, Education Services in the management of the Service.
Current QIM duties (Policy, Performance and Commissioning) and responsibilities which include: Leading a team of central officers: to develop performance management, to support the development of Management Information Systems, which meet the needs of the Service and make appropriate links to corporate systems; Managing the Parent / Pupil Support Unit in relation to School Transport, Education Maintenance Allowances, Clothing Grants and Free School Meals; and, Leading service improvement and stakeholder engagement for Education in two Districts (Annandale and Eskdale and Nithsdale), including engagement with Area Committees and Parent Councils.

Quality Improvement (Staffing and Resources)
To support the Director, Education Services and Head of Service in the management of the Service.
Ensure that the School Estate Management Plan articulates the property-related needs of the Service.
Oversee the allocation of resources, including staff, to schools in accordance with the provisions of the Scheme.
Liaise closely with Staffing Section and HR to oversee deployment of teaching and school based support staff in line with agreed policy.

Quality Improvement (Cluster Development)
To support the Director, Education Services and Head of Service in the management of the Service.
To support the implementation of Curriculum for Excellence with a focus on supporting the continuing professional development of staff curriculum support with a focus international education, cluster development and SQA and subject specialist provision.
To support quality improvement and evaluation in schools.

Quality Improvement (Quality Improvement/HMiE)
To support the Director, Education Services and Head of Service in the management of the Service.
To apply procedures with regard to HMIe Inspection of schools, including those associated with preparation and follow through reporting of schools.
To monitor the quality of 3-18 education and to contribute to maintaining and raising standards in Council schools and partner providers in relation to Attainment, Achievement and Participation.

Integration
To support the Director, Education Services and Head of Service in the management of the Service.
Provide professional support to D&G's Children's Services Chief Officers Executive to ensure the effective operation of its role and remit in the delivery of Getting it Right for every Child.
Promote and develop partnership working between all relevant agencies involved in delivering services to children, young people and families in Dumfries & Galloway.
