The Council delivers its services through six departments with a staff of just under 8000 people.

• Chief Executive - Gavin Stevenson
  As Chief Executive, Gavin Stevenson has ultimate responsibility for the Council and provides leadership and motivation. He co-ordinates policy development and oversees general management through the Corporate Management Team (CMT). He is also Head of Paid Service for all Council employees.
