Demand Responsive Transport

In addition to the local bus network covering the main public transport routes, there are also a number of innovative demand responsive services known as "Ring 'n' Ride". These services promote inclusion and operate in rural areas with little or no conventional bus services.

At present there are two main "Ring 'n' Ride" services, which operate in the following areas:

Castle Douglas Area - Service 555
Operated by DGC Buses, this serves: Kirkcudbright, Ringford, Rhonehouse, Castle Douglas, Dumfries, Kirkpatrick Durham, Hardgate and Milton. This Service operates Monday to Friday with a fully accessible low floor vehicle.

Bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. You will need to inform the telephone operator of the journey, where you wish to be picked up and to which location you want to travel within the defined area.

On your first call to this service simple details will be taken for registration purposes and ease of reference for future bookings. The service will pick up from defined suitable locations within the areas.
