Libraries, Information and Archives subscribe to a number of online resources. These are available in any library and from home using your library membership number.

	KnowUK Over 100 reference publications provide a comprehensive resource for everybody in the UK. Most are unique to KnowUK and are not available elsewhere online. Available in every library and from home to library members.
	Newsstand Newsstand is the updated version of NewsUK; it is an online service which combines a whole range of national and regional newspapers and magazines in one database. It is an ideal resource for UK public libraries as it will answer most people's queries on past and recent events and provide useful background information on specific contemporary issues. 	Encyclopedia Britannica The best known encyclopedia in the world, online in all libraries. Includes multimedia material unavailable in printed format.
	Oxford Dictionary of National Biography Contains over 56,000 biographies of anyone who was anyone from the Romans to the present day. 	Who's Who and Who was Who Published every year since 1849, Who's Who is the leading source of up-to-date information about over 32,000 influential people in British public life today. Who Was Who is an invaluable historical archive which collects together the entries of over 100,000 people, now deceased, which were included in previous editions of Who's Who. 	Oxford Reference Online A collection of 175 of Oxford University Press most popular reference works accessible through one search box. To access the site from home, type in DGL plus the number on the back of your library card in the login box.
	Grove Art Online With more than 5,000 images and articles covering mosaics to multimedia, performance art to printmaking, and Turner to Emin, Grove Art Online can tell you everything you need to know about visual art online. 	Ancestry Library Edition is now available to use at your local library. This genealogy database is ideal for the family historian or the social historian with more than 5 billion names in over 4,000 collections. It offers a wide and diverse variety of unique content to help users trace their family lineage or help historians access historical records that have previously not been available online. This resource cannot be accessed through your home computer but anyone wishing to access the website can do so at any library in Dumfries and Galloway.
	Scottish Building Standards – Domestic and Non Domestic are now available online on the Scottish Government website. After this year there will no longer be a up-to-date paper copy in Reference.
