Social Work staff offer support by working closely with you, your relatives and other carers so that caring tasks can be shared, where appropriate. We will support you to use your natural resources to find solutions to the difficulties you may face and so help you to maintain your independence. Carers may be entitled to receive additional help and support for their own needs through a Carers Assessment.
You can choose to complete a supported self assessment questionnaire which will help us together to assess your situation. We will use the Eligibility and Priority Framework set out by Dumfries and Galloway Council to help us confirm your entitlement to care.

If you are not entitled to social care support from us we can still give you information and advice. We can suggest other groups and services that can help.
Dumfries and Galloway Council operate a
Charging Policy for non-residential services [68kb]. A financial assessment will determine how much you may need to contribute to your care if you are under 65 years old.
Free Personal Care is for people aged 65 years and over and covers areas such as support with personal care tasks including washing/dressing and meal preparation.
