Horse Riding Establishments

Stables that hire out horses or ponies for riding or instruction must be licensed under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970.

A report is also required from a vet.

There is a fee for this licence which is issued on an annual basis, price on application.

  • Q: I have just bought a previously licensed vehicle/premises, can I transfer the licence?

    A: No, licences are not transferable. You will need to re-apply in your own/your company name.

  • Q: How can I apply for a licence?

    A: Please contact Environmental Standards for an application form which you will need to complete and return with evidence of appropriate insurance etc and the required fee.

  • Q: Who sets the fees for my licensing application?

    A: The fees are set by the Council and reviewed annually. They are set to meet the costs of administering the Service.
