Waste collection and bulky uplifts for commercial properties are available which can be tailored to business needs.

All businesses have a statutory duty to ensure that they dispose of their waste correctly and use a registered or exempt waste carrier to collect it. Section 34 (Duty of Care) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 defines the need to correctly document all transfers of waste from producer, carrier and disposer.

Please note that commercial waste is not accepted at Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). HWRCs are not licensed to accept any waste generated from commercial or industrial activities. The Council and its private sector partner, Shanks Dumfries and Galloway are increasing the level of security at HWRCs to ensure that only household waste is deposited. These sites are now under continuous surveillance.
