Zero Waste Investment Plan
Dumfries and Galloway Council is investing £2.9million as part of a four year plan to further enhance the waste facilities in the region and to move towards the Scottish Government's Zero Waste targets.

Private Finance Initiative Contract
Dumfries and Galloway Council signed a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) with Shanks Dumfries & Galloway (SD&G) on the 26th of November 2004. This agreement means that all Council collected waste in the region will be delivered to PFI contract agreed sites. At these sites the waste is treated to recover resources to help meet landfill targets for waste set by the European Union.
