Dumfries and Galloway Licensing Boards are the statutory licensing authority under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976, the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Gambling Act 2005 for Dumfries and Galloway.

NOTICE is hereby given that the four Divisional Licensing Boards within Dumfries and Galloway (comprising the Annandale and Eskdale Divisional Licensing Board; the Nithsdale Divisional Licensing Board; the Stewartry Divisional Licensing Board and the Wigtown Divisional Licensing Board) intend to publish their Statement of Principles in terms of the Gambling Act 2005 and the Gambling Act 2005 (Licensing Authority Policy Statement) (Scotland) Regulations 2006.

The Statement outlines the principles which the Boards propose to apply in exercising their functions under the Gambling Act 2005.

The Statement of Principles will be published from 28 December 2012 until it comes into effect on 31 January 2013.

The Boards will publish the Statement of Principles on Dumfries and Galloway Council's website:

and will make the Statement available for inspection within:-

• Council Offices at: English Street, Dumfries; Buccleuch Street, Dumfries; High Street, Annan; Daar Road, Kirkcudbright; and Sun Street, Stranraer and;
• The public libraries at Annan; Castle Douglas; Dalbeattie; Dalry; Eastriggs; Ewart Library, Dumfries; Gatehouse; Georgetown, Dumfries; Gretna; Kirkconnel; Kirkcudbright; Langholm; Lochmaben; Lochside, Dumfries; Lochthorn, Dumfries; Lockerbie; Moffat; Newton Stewart; Port William; Sanquhar; Stranraer; Thornhill; Whithorn; and Wigtown

The Dumfries and Galloway Local Authority Area is divided into 4 Divisions - Annandale and Eskdale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtown. Each Division has its own Board made up of local authority Councillors and supported by the Clerk and administrative staff from the Council.  Licensing Board Membership [12kb]

The Boards are under a duty to publish a  Statement of Licensing Policy [146kb] and  Statement of Principles under the Gambling Act 2005 [262kb], reviewed on a three yearly basis, that offer guidance and clarity on the policy on which the Board will base its decisions.

Dumfries and Galloway Licensing Boards have adopted the undernoted rules in relation to frequency and place and time of meetings:-

1. The Board or any Committee established by the Board shall hold in every calendar year such meetings as are necessary
2. Meetings shall be held at such place and on such days and times as determined by or on behalf of the Clerk of the Boards.
