The School was opened in 1958 and was refurbished in two phases between 1994 and 1998. The School's accommodation is of a high standard and a security system for the safety of staff and pupils is in operation. There are nine class bases and a large multi-purpose hall. The School also has a sixty place Nursery.
The pupils designed and created a Millennium garden with an outdoor stage and this is situated at the front of the School. The School itself is surrounded by a large play area with picnic benches. Outdoor areas are supervised by adults at each break time.
Rephad has had several famous ex-pupils, two of whom are Allan Jenkins who is a footballer and Major General David McDowall who is now in command of the army in Scotland and the North of England.
