The School was opened in 1958 and was refurbished in two phases between 1994 and 1998.  The School's accommodation is of a high standard and a security system for the safety of staff and pupils is in operation.  There are nine class bases and a large multi-purpose hall.  The School also has a sixty place Nursery. 

The pupils designed and created a Millennium garden with an outdoor stage and this is situated at the front of the School. The School itself is surrounded by a large play area with picnic benches.  Outdoor areas are supervised by adults at each break time. 

Rephad has had several famous ex-pupils, two of whom are Allan Jenkins who is a footballer and Major General David McDowall who is now in command of the army in Scotland and the North of England.
