Hutton Primary School serves the village of Boreland, seven miles north-east of Lockerbie on the B723, and the surrounding rural catchment area, which ends approximately five miles from the school at its furthest point. The school is also partnered with Applegarth Primary School.

The building was erected in 1857 and extended in 1906, previously school was held in the school house.

The school capacity is 29 children.  There are two class teachers, including the headteacher who is class committed for three days per week.  We have visiting specialist teachers for P.E., Art, Music and Learning Support.

The school has an active Parent Forum and is an integral part of the community.  We are an Eco-School.
