Reserving Library Items

Library members can reserve any item which is not currently available at their local library for loan but which exists in the library catalogue.

You can check the Online Library Catalogue which will tell you the items we have in stock.

Requests

If you cannot find the title you are looking for, something on a subject you are interested in, or wish to ensure the guaranteed delivery of a popular title, then you can make a request.  By simply filling in the details on a request form, or by requesting the item online, we will endeavour to track down the first available copy and send it to the branch of your choice.  Finally, we will contact you when the item is available for collection.

Requested items are held for a period of time dependant on the type of item.  If it is not collected in this time period it will be returned to the shelves. Please note that you will still be charged for this request.

A small charge is made to offset some of the cost in providing this service.  If the item requested also incurs a charge, this will still be payable.

Charge: 75p (Adults),  35p (Juniors) per item supplied.

Inter Library Loans

Sometimes written material can be unavailable through the usual request procedure, for example if the item is out of print.  If this should occur then library members have the option to use the Inter Library Loan scheme.  This is a consortium of British Libraries who are prepared to loan material amongst themselves.  This is supplemented by the British Library Document Supply Centre at Boston Spa.  As a result almost any title published can be made available.

Ask at any library for details.  Due to the high postal rates and overheads of the scheme a charge is made for this service.

Charge:  £7.50 per item supplied.

Full time students able to produce a matriculation card or other suitable evidence of status pay a reduced charge of £5.00 per item.
