  • Improved Broadband Arrives in the Stewartry
    Superfast broadband is coming to households and businesses across the Stewartry. This rollout will improve broadband speeds right across the Stewartry - not just the main towns. Residents will have the opportunity to come along and find out more information about the introduction of the new technology.

    Road Safety Scotland and the Scottish Government are promoting the "Kids in the Car" campaign which asks parents to consider what kind of driver they are teaching their child to be. The campaign aims to reduce road accidents now and in the future through encouraging parents to think about how important they are as role models to their children in the car.

  • Commonwealth Youth Summit
    The Commonwealth Youth Summit was held in Dumfries from 6th-9th June. The Youth Summit was said to be the largest youth work event of Legacy 2014. The event, hosted by Dumfries and Galloway Council in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, saw over 240 young delegates gathering for the event.

    Our Council's free egg and nest removal service is now available to all residential and commercial premises in Dumfries and Heathhall where gulls are being aggressive, stealing food or present a general risk to public health and safety. The scheme will run until the 31 July when the gull breeding season ends.
