Dumfries and Galloway Council has continued to be in close communication with all our food suppliers with regard to the authenticity of meat used in school meals.

We can confirm that all products used within Dumfries and Galloway school meals are not known to be affected by the current crisis.

Dumfries and Galloway Council does not procure meat from the media-highlighted Scotland Excel national contract; all meat used in school meals is procured from Pioneer Foods as a regional contract.

All meat received from Pioneer is fully traceable.

Officers in our Council who deal with school meals will continue to liaise closely with our suppliers and supply any updates and reassurances as required.
