Community Planning is at the centre of the agencies' work in making policy and delivering services. A Strategic Partnership oversees and champions the process. Different forums and partnerships support different themes, and Local Rural Partnerships form the direct link with communities.

A small number of working groups share an enthusiasm and commitment to making the area a better place to live. Dumfries and Galloway has a strong tradition of civic pride and active communities. All these factors help Community Planning to succeed here.

An important part of the process is listening to and communicating with local groups and individuals. Community Planning promotes engagement in decisions about services, to make sure they meet the needs of the area.
