Community Planning

Community Planning brings together all the major public and voluntary agencies in our area, working with each other and with local communities to deliver better services for the people of Dumfries and Galloway.

The Community Plan provides the framework for this kind of joint working. It is based on a vision shared by all the partner organisations. They want to see vibrant and challenging communities where everyone can play a part in making a better future.

Community Planning is at the centre of the agencies' work in making policy and delivering services. A joint board oversees and champions the process. Central working groups, forums and partnerships cover different aspects of Community Planning, and Local Rural Partnerships form the direct link with communities.

The major agencies share an enthusiasm and commitment to making the area a better place to live, work and visit. Dumfries and Galloway has a strong tradition of civic pride and active communities. All these factors help Community Planning to succeed here.

The most important part of the process is listening to and communicating with local groups and individuals. Community Planning helps you to get involved in decisions about services, to make sure they meet the individual needs of each area.

This effective way of working together improves local services and quality of life, and you can be part of it.
