Procurement

Our Council has formed a team to develop the procurement function within our Council.  The team is part of the Chief Executive Service and their aim is to improve Council procurement by tendering new contracts, introducing e-procurement to Council services and developing knowledge of procurement law and procedures amongst officers.

Procurement provides a wide range of information and advice including:

• assisting suppliers who may be interested in bidding for contract opportunities
• reducing costs by creating efficient procurement
• working in partnership with our partners in the private, voluntary and public sector
• complying with legal regulations
• achieving best value
• supporting local businesses in the regeneration process
• ensuring that sustainability is considered in procurement decisions

• Contract Opportunities
  Dumfries and Galloway Council publicise all current contract opportunities for works, supplies and services which are available to tender. We also advertise contract opportunities through the Official Journal of the European Union.

• Mandatory Contracts
  The Procurement Team manages certain council-wide contracts which have been tendered nationwide to ensure that the Council obtain best value. These contracts with suppliers are known as Mandatory Contracts.

  The procurement process spans the whole cycle from identification of needs, through to the end of a services contract. Procurement policy is in place to ensure the Council is fair and accountable in its dealings with contractors and suppliers and that best value is achieved.
