Food and Drink is a key sector within Business and Enterprise, supporting the regions food producers, retailers, Farmers and food processors. The team works closely with Savour the Flavours of Dumfries and Galloway to support and develop this sector.

Business and Enterprise supports the sector on a 'field to fork' approach incorporating producers, retailers, accommodation providers and any business which has an involvement with the food and drink sector. Business and Enterprise also works closely with colleagues in the Employability and skills team to support training and skills development within the hospitality sector.

Food processing is a key element of the regions food sector and along with colleagues from Scottish Enterprise the team supports the development of the food processing businesses within the region.

The region also has a dedicated Food Town Castle Douglas, who receive support and advice from the Business and Enterprise Team

The Creative clusters business adviser also provides business advice and support to this sector with a focus on groups of producers and businesses working in collaboration within the sector.

A regional Food and drink strategy is being developed in 2011/12.
