Our aim is to create a flexible, modern, inclusive and sustainable facility for the community of Dalbeattie, which will support attainment, achievement and participation.
Scottish Futures Trust (an independent company, established by the Scottish Government with a responsibility to deliver public infrastructure investment) agreed to provide funding towards the construction of a new secondary school for Dalbeattie.
This funding presents us with a great opportunity to build an excellent educational facility which would sit at the heart of the community, promoting our Authority's vision of Achievement, Attainment and Participation for all of our young people.

In September 2009, Dalbeattie High School was identified through Scotland's Schools for the Future programme for replacement.
The proposals for a Scottish Government Funding allocation of £6.587 million was based on a like for like replacement for two thirds of the cost of a new building to house Secondary Education in the Dalbeattie area.
Due to the condition and suitability of the Primary School estate within Dalbeattie, it was decided to engage with all relevant stakeholders to determine if there was community support to consider the replacement of one or both of the Primary Schools within the scope of project.
Education Committee agreed in September 2012 to proceed with the development of the project as a shared campus for Dalbeattie High School and Dalbeattie Primary School and Nursery, and agreed to the commencement of the statutory consultation process for the relocation of the Primary School to the High School site.

Following the decision to include Dalbeattie Primary School in the development of the shared campus, the Council had to complete the formality of Statutory Consultation for the relocation of the Primary School and the Nursery to the new site. This consultation process is scheduled for completion in May 2013.
In August 2012, Councillors received an update on the actions required by Dumfries and Galloway Council in the setting up and implementation of Hub South West Scotland. Hub South West Scotland is a Partnership that has been created to deliver community based facilities across a territory that includes Dumfries and Galloway, North, South and East Ayrshire, and North and South Lanarkshire. Dalbeattie Educational Campus is included as an identified project.
A Project Board has been established comprising of senior managers of our Council and other appropriate staff. A Project Team has commenced work to progress the various workstreams associated with the development and delivery of the project. These workstreams cover legal, financial, communications & engagement, technical and community benefits activities.
The Project team will continue to engage with key stakeholders to ensure that they are kept informed of developments and have the opportunity to provide input where possible. This will be carried out throughout the key stages of the project timeline detailed below.

We're keen to get your feedback on the development and plans for the project and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. If you would like to send us any questions, comments or feedback, please get in touch by email or post using the contact details below.
