Dumfries and Galloway Council has set aside £5.5m for a new school which will be built onto the side of the existing Langholm Academy. It is hoped that construction work will begin next summer and the school will open for the 2013/14 academic year.
The Council is holding a series of consultation events on the design for the new school. The new school will be built next to Langholm Academy, replacing the Victorian building opposite.
It is hoped that the project will go out to tender in late 2011/early 2012, with construction commencing during the summer of 2012. Further updates on timescales will be given as they become available.
Draft plans were drawn up for initial consultation, which are currently being revised:
Artist's impressions were also developed for consultation along with the initial draft plans:

Several meetings have been held with both schools and the Primary Parent Council. A public information event was held in early July 2011 to display the latest plans, with a similar follow up event planned for early autumn.
