Participation and Engagement Working Group


  • To develop a co-ordinated programme of participation and engagement activity across partners;
  • Identify opportunities for joint engagement work to maximise links between related issues and reduce costs;
  • To share expertise and experience across partners; publicise the engagement opportunities available from local partners and feedback published through a regular newsletter; and
  • Oversee the development and working of the Participation and Engagement Network.

The Participation and Engagement Working Group members support and access the Dumfries and Galloway Participation and Engagement Network which is a database of local people who are interested in being involved in consultations and engagement around public services.

All partners in the Working Group support the National Standards for Community Engagement.


Dumfries and Galloway Syrian Refugee Resettlement Project Board

The Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Partnership has agreed to support 20 small families to resettle in D and G as part of the UK Home Office Resettlement Scheme, up to March 2020. The authorisation for this work was given by DG Council in February 2016.

Project Aim

  • 'To provide a safe haven for Syrian Refugee families and support them in building a happy and successful future.'

Project Objectives

  • To provide a warm welcome for Syrian families in Dumfries and Galloway
  • To assist Dumfries and Galloway residents in understanding and supporting Syrian refugee families in our communities
  • To ensure a community-led approach to the reception and support for Syrian families in Dumfries and Galloway
  • To assist Syrian families to move from dependence to independence as quickly and smoothly as possible

Project Board Remit

  • Responsible for the delivery of the overall Project Plan
  • Allocating and monitoring budget for the Project
  • Removing any barriers to achieving the objectives
  • Agreement of the workstreams leads, memberships and remits
