Have your say on the 2023 -2028 Council Plan

Our Council Plan sets out the vision and approach we take to ensure our services and activities deliver our ambitions from 2023 to 2028.

Our Council now needs your feedback so that Elected Members can finalise and agree a Council Plan for 2023-2028 that’s inclusive of everyone’s views.

The public and stakeholders now have the opportunity to have real input and get ideas and views heard, to shape the final Plan. The draft Council Plan is available through various platforms, including questionnaires, which will be available online and in various Council buildings.

The timeline for consultation is from 20 December 2022 until 31 January 2023.

Our Elected Members will look at the outcomes to be prioritised and achieved over the term of this Council, which is critical for communities and residents and of significant importance for the direction of the organisation.

Members across all parties had input into the draft plan. The consensus from Members was that four themes should be given the highest priority for the new Plan:

• Economy
• Travel, Connectivity and Infrastructure
• Education and Learning
• Health and Wellbeing

Once the consultation has been completed, the final draft Council Plan will be presented to members of Full Council on 28 February 2023 and once agreed, it will be reviewed annually to ensure delivery of the agreed outcomes.

Convener of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Stephen Thompson said: “This is a key Council document that will chart the course for the next five years to ensure we provide the essential services to our communities and work effectively with partners. This is our Council’s vision, but we want to hear people’s views and make sure it’s the right vision that will deliver for Dumfries and Galloway.”

Depute Convener, Linda Dorward said: “Public and stakeholder views are an essential part of this plan. I encourage everyone to take some time to read it and feed back to us your thoughts and ideas. We are in difficult times, particularly with the cost of living crisis, so we must ensure that the services we deliver are the ones which are required by our communities.”
